Columbia Stock Transfer Company, formerly Idaho Stock Transfer Company, was established by Donald L. Hess in 1983. Mr. Hess was born in 1929 in Mandan, North Dakota and grew up in Helena, Montana. He attended Carroll College and the University of Montana where he received a bachelors degree in Accounting. He also served in the army in the early 1950s.
He married Lillianne Lauzon in 1956. They lived in Wallace, Idaho where they raised their family of four daughters and a son. Don worked for a local C.P.A. firm. This firm specialized in accounting and stock transfers for several companies in the mining industry. Don served on the board of directors on many of these mining companies.
In the early 1980s, Don established his own CPA firm and stock transfer company in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. His stock transfer clients consisted primarily of mining companies from the Silver Valley.
Mr. Hess was actively involved in his accounting firm and in Columbia Stock Transfer Company until his death in April 2003. His granddaughter, Michelle White, worked for him many years. She is now the president of Columbia Stock Transfer Company and continues to provide high quality services that were instilled upon her by her grandfather.
Michelle White is a long time resident of Idaho and has been working for Columbia Stock Transfer Company since 2000. Michelle obtained her Bachelors in Business Administration at Lewis & Clark State College of Idaho with a goal of becoming a CPA.
